Goodbye, Billy Preston

Billy Preston died yesterday. He was well known for his work with the Beatles during the Let it Be and Abbey Road sessions, but he also worked on one of my favorite albums of the 70s, Bob Dylan’s Blood on the Tracks. I admit I also liked his top 40 hit, Nothing from Nothing. He was an amazing keyboardist.

To be able to work with the Beatles, the Stones, Clapton, Sly Stone, and Ray Charles says a lot. What a body of work. His credit for work on Get Back was the only time the Beatles shared a credit with another artist, so I guess that makes him the true fifth Beatle.

Rest in peace. Will It Go Round in Circles.
