Dell to offer Linux to consumers

According to eWeek, Dell is planning to offer my favorite Linux bundle directly to consumers. This is exciting news. I’ve long been considering using Linux for the office machines, but didn’t really want to roll my own. Both GIMP and Inkscape are usable enough for basic web, and even occasional video graphics, so the office machine can be used for a limited amount of design work.
What’s still lacking in the Linux world are viable editing and compression tools, and I don’t expect those to be available anytime soon. I also need QuickBooks.

Wider distribution of Linux can’t be a bad thing.
