Life’s a birch

These trees were heavily stressed during the freak snowstorm last month. I’ve been waiting for a still enough day to photograph them, and finally got one today. The light wasn’t perfect, so I shot three exposures for HDR. After processing with Photomatix, I made a few additional tweaks to boost the contrast and add some vignetting.

This photo is dedicated to the memory of Vito Cappelletti, Jr. 1962 – 2011 who lost his battle with ALS last week. I’m a better person for having known him, and the world’s a better place for having had him.
